About Us

Launched in August 2023, House of Amao was born from a place of necessity.

Over the past 4-5 years, we had not burned a single candle, or used a scented plug-in due to the effects they had on my husband. Once I light a candle, he was right behind me blowing it out because it would end up causing him headaches and allergies that would result in him being in bed for a day or two. I also became very conscious of what we brought into our home after our daughter was born and have tried to systematically remove/reduce known toxins in our home.

As a result, I embarked on a journey to create candles and fragrances that did NOT trigger headaches, allergies, create that horrible smell after it's blown out, or even create that odd sensation you get in the back of your throat while/after burning.

Now here's where my personal motto comes in: Just because we aim for reduced toxicity, does not mean our products shouldn't be top quality! Our candles are of the highest quality and our scents have incredible depth and range. Most of them have been compared to high end quality.

In our search, House of Amao was born, with "Amao" being a combo of our daughter's first and last name!

Here's our hope - we hope that our home of fragrances will awaken or elevate your senses as we simply aim to make your space feel MORE — that is, more inviting, more cozy, and more awakened.
